Why do I need Microsoft .Net 2.0? [return]

Microsoft .Net 2.0 is a required component. Please click yes or accept if you are prompted.

I purchased the license to use For and About Law. How do I register the license(s)? [return]

If you purchased the license(s) either from the website www.lawdiary.com, over phone or received For and About Law update cds in the mail, please read the following information.

The first computer that installs For and About Law needs to register the license(s) for the employee(s) of the company. This extra step is only for the first computer in your company. Click on Administrator to begin.

Click Serial Number over the Web

Enter your Customer Number and Order Number, then click Get Available Licenses

Depending on the number of licenses that you have the screen below will say 1 of 1, 4 of 4, 40 of 40, etc. Click Register on the state or states listed. Click Close to return to the previous screen.

Each Computer will get one license for each state that was registered

Enter the employee’s full name for the Workstation Name. The Workstation Name has to be unique within your company (among all the branches). Left click the empty box below Subscribe for each state that appears in Jurisdiction. If your company has different branches, please checkmark only the state or states that were assigned to you. Click Finish to complete the registration.

Registering the 2 nd, 3 rd, 4 th, etc

After the first computer has registered all of the available licenses, the other computers only need to enter the Customer Number and Order Number on this screen. Click Join to retrieve an available license for use on that computer.

After Clicking Join, the screen should look like this.

Enter the employee’s full name for the Workstation Name. The Workstation Name has to be unique within your company (among all the branches). Left click the empty box next to Subscribe for each state that appears below Jurisdiction. If your company has different branches, please checkmark only the state or states that were assigned to you. Click Finish to complete the registration.

Can I move my calendar, cases, to do list, bookmarks and annotations from Lawyers Diary and Manual to For and About Law? [return]

Yes. For existing Lawyers Diary and Manual customers, the Data Migration Wizard will pop up automatically when you first use For and About Law. The Data Migration Wizard will copy your username(s) and password(s), calendar data, cases, to do list, bookmarks and annotations to For and About Law. Click next to begin the migration and follow the prompts to copy your data over to For and About Law. If you DO NOT use the calendar, cases, to do list, bookmarks or annotations of Lawyers Diary and Manual please click on Never . If you do not know your Lawyers Diary and Manual password to login to your calendar please follow the instructions below to change the password. The instructions below will also help you remove users from the migration process .

Open Lawyers Diary and Manual, click on Calendar, then click New User

Click on your username under Current Users, then click Edit User

Change the password in the Password box, then click Save

Click Close to exit Manage Users

If you have Users who are no longer with your company or you want to remove a user from the data migration process please reopen the Manage Users screen by clicking on Calendar, then click New User

Select a user you wish to remove, click delete

Enter the Admin Password “Secure99”, click ok, click yes to finish.

Can’t login to For and About Law after migrating calendar data from Lawyers Diary and Manual?Forgot your password? [return]

Type “admin” at the login screen of any user to login as the administrator

(Applies to the newest web setup.exe and cds shipped after May 31, 2009)

If “admin” does not allow you to login to For and About Law, please call Tech Support at 1-800-444-4041 ext 6.

How can I add or change the password for administrator access? [return]

Adding an administrator password will give you control of all the licenses for your company, company wide settings for the calendar and access to login as administrator when a user forgets their password.

Go To Settings, click General

Click Passwords, then click Administrator Password

Enter a password in the Password box and retype the same

password in the Confirm box, click Save All to apply the password.

How can I add or change my password? [return]

Go to My Office, then click on Users

To add a password, enter a password in the Password box and retype the same

password in the Confirm box

Click Save to apply the new password

To change your password, click on Change Password, enter your old password

Enter a Password in the Password box and retype the same

password in the Confirm box, Click Save to apply the new password

Why do I get an error message when I open a pdf file in the References section? [return]

This error is caused by conflicts with different versions of pdf readers and writers. You do not have to uninstall your pdf writers. This conflict is usually caused by older versions of Adobe Reader earlier than 9.1. If you have an older version of Adobe Reader please uninstall that version. You can install the newest version from www.adobe.com
